Steven John Garrett

Steven Garrett has experience advising and representing individuals, public agencies, and Fortune 500 companies before California state and federal courts, administrative agencies, and arbitration panels. He has represented clients in complex litigation involving diverse practice areas such as products liability, labor and employment, real estate, and commercial litigation. Mr. Garrett has obtained favorable results for clients at arbitrations, mediations, settlement conferences, administrative hearings, and court hearings. His business background has enabled him to build relationships with clients and to specifically tailor litigation strategies to meet their business needs and goals.

Prior to joining O’Connor & Associates, Mr. Garrett worked at the prestigious law firm of Epstein, Becker & Green P.C. as a litigation attorney before joining the international law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP as a senior litigation attorney. Mr. Garrett was responsible for managing all phases of litigation before courts, arbitration panels, and administrative agencies. He drafted and argued all aspects of civil motion practice, including initial and responsive pleadings, motions for summary judgment, discovery motions, and ex parte applications. In addition, he attended court status conferences, settlement conferences, mediations, and negotiated settlements.

Mr. Garrett is admitted to practice in all California State Courts and United States District Courts, Northern District of California, Eastern District of California, Southern District, and Central District of California.

Mr. Garrett graduated from Texas A&M University with degrees in Finance and Management in 1999 and from the University of San Francisco Law School in 2002. As a law student, he was a Law Faculty Scholar, a member of the University of San Francisco Law Review, and won the CALI Excellence for the Future Award. He also served as a Law Clerk for the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office during law school.
